Some signs include unclear speech, trouble being understood by others, difficulty forming sentences, limited vocabulary, challenges following directions, or trouble participating in conversations. If you’re unsure, a consultation can help determine whether an evaluation or therapy would be beneficial.
An evaluation looks at your child’s speech and language abilities to understand strengths and areas for growth. This may include play-based observation, discussion of your concerns, informal and/or standardized assessments, and recommendations for next steps. Evaluations typically take about 60–90 minutes, followed by feedback and a therapy plan if services are recommended.
Not always. If your child has had a speech/language evaluation within the past year (such as through Early Intervention, the school system, or a private clinic), that documentation may be used instead of completing a new evaluation. Kathleen can review the report and advise whether additional assessment is needed.
Most therapy sessions last 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s age, needs, and goals.
Many children attend once or twice per week, but frequency varies based on individual needs, progress, and recommendations.
